The Blue Danube Opera Conducting Masterclass 2022 is limited to the first qualified 11 conductors who apply, are accepted, and confirm their places with a deposit. An unlimited number of auditors will be accepted at the reduced rate of EUR 500.
EACH CONDUCTOR RECEIVES
– private and group coaching;

– 20 minutes of orchestra rehearsal for each opera;
– 15 minutes of choir rehearsal for each opera;
– 20 minutes of Sitzprobe/Italiana rehearsal for each opera;
– ca. 1/3 of rehearsal with piano and cast / soloists for the opera they conduct in performance;
– 1/3 of Generalprobe / dress rehearsal for the opera they conduct in performance;
– 1/3 of an opera to conduct in public performance.

We are often asked if it is necessary for conductors to know all operas in order to take part in our Opera Conducting Masterclass. The answer is NO; we encourage conductors to divide their podium time between all operas, but some conductors trade podium time with one another so they are able to devote more time to and focus on only one or two operas. In our suggested and standard format, each active-participant conductor conducts a full act or ca. 1/3 of one of the operas in a public performance, in addition to having much rehearsal time on the other two.

€2.000 – balance fee due in cash, on the first day of the Masterclass. The balance fee once paid is non-refundable due to our financial obligations to the institution.

MAESTRO IVAYLO KRINCHEV.

Bulgarian conductor, Ivaylo Krinchev, graduated in 1989 from the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1989 in opera, symphonic and choral conducting. He undertook additional training in symphonic conducting in Masterclasses with Karl Oesterreicher in Vienna and IIya Musin in St. Petersburg.

Between 1990 and 1995, Maestro Krinchev was resident conductor at Bulgarian State Opera Bourgas and with the Bourgas Philharmonic. During this time, he gained enormous symphonic and operatic conducting experience with a comprehensive repertoire.

Between 1995 and 1997, Krinchev was the general music director and general director of Bulgarian State Opera Bourgas. In 1999, he was appointed artistic director and conductor of the Dutch Impresario Agency, Euro Stage, where he conducted and toured with opera productions and performances in important venues in Spain, France and Switzerland.

Currently, Maestro Krinchev is the principal conductor at State Opera Stara Zagora (Bulgaria) and principal guest conductor at Bulgarian State Opera Bourgas and the Vidin (Bulgaria) Symphony Orchestra. His guest conducting activities include appearances with orchestras and opera companies in Bulgaria and abroad.

Since 2001, Krinchev has been professor of opera and orchestral conducting at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria. Between 2002 and 2006,  he was a guest professor of orchestral conducting in Seoul, South Korea. Since then, he has worked closely with different orchestras in South Korea and was invited to conduct new productions of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly in 2007 and Verdi’s Aida in 2018 in Gwangju, South Korea.

Since 2016, Maestro Kinchev has served as vice rector of the Academic Symphony Orchestra and Musical Theater Training programs at the Bulgarian National Academy of Music.

Ivaylo Krinchev has conducted numerous recordings for Bulgarian National Radio and Television.

Dejan Savic Conductor - Opera Conducting Masterclass  with State Opera Stara Zagora, Bulgaria / 8 - 19 FEBRUARY 2021
MAESTRO DEJAN SAVIC (1957) was born in Belgrade, Serbia to a family of musicians. He graduated with distinction, with a degree in conducting, from the Academy of Music in Belgrade and received his Master’s degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Republic of Serbia. During the period 1985 – 2000, he was artistic director of the oldest Serbo-Jewish Choral Society “The Baruh Brothers”, founded in 1879. Between 1993 and 1995, he was the artistic director of the “Pro Musica” Chamber Ensemble. From 1989 – 1993, Dejan Savic was the artistic director and chief conductor of the Nis Symphony Orchestra in the Republic of Serbia, and since 1993, the principal conductor of the Serbian National Opera and Ballet in Belgrade.
Between 2001 and 2004, Mr. Savic was the general manager of the Serbian National Opera and Ballet Company. In 2005, he was named Superintendant of the National Theater Belgrade, becoming the first musician to lead this prestigious national institute of culture in its 140-year history. In 2007, he was named general manager of the opera.
Dejan Savic was appointed principal guest conductor of the ERT Symphony Orchestra and Choir in Athens, Greece, for four seasons and has conducted in numerous prestigeous Festivals. He has appeared with prominent orchestras and choirs, as well as with opera and ballet companies in Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Israel, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, USA, Germany, Ireland, Norway, France, Austria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and elsewhere. He has made recordings for Radio and TV in many countries as well as several CDs for the PGP production of RTV Belgrade, Romanian National Radiodifusion, Bulgarian National RTV, Greek National RTV, etc. For his artistic achievements, Maestro Savic has been the recipient of a number of important recognitions and awards. He is fluent in English, French, Italian, German and Russian.

– 20 minutes of orchestra rehearsal for each opera;
– 15 minutes of choir rehearsal for each opera;
– 20 minutes of Sitzprobe/Italiana rehearsal for each opera;
– ca. 1/3 of rehearsal with piano and cast / soloists for the opera they conduct in performance;
– 1/3 of General probe / dress rehearsal for the opera they conduct in performance;
– 1/3 of an opera to conduct in public performance.

We are often asked if it is necessary for conductors to know all operas in order to take part in our Opera Conducting Masterclass. The answer is NO; we encourage conductors to divide their podium time between all operas, but some conductors trade podium time with one another so they are able to devote more time to and focus on only one or two operas. In our suggested and standard format, each active-participant conductor conducts a full act or ca. 1/3 of one of the operas in a public performance, in addition to having much rehearsal time on the other two. Please ask us about this point if you have any questions.

MASTERCLASS FEES AND PAYMENT
€50 – non-refundable application fee;
€700 – deposit, refundable if the conductor cancels before 20 December 2019 for any substantial reason, such as health problems, impossibility to get a visa or any other such reasons. The reason must be in any case substantiated. In case of refunds, a waiting period of 4 – 6 months is to be expected.
€2.000 – balance fee due in cash, on the first day of the Masterclass.
A limited number of passive participants / auditors will also be accepted for a fee of €500, exclusive of accommodation, transport or meals.

TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION The closest airport to Stara Zagora is the Sofia International Airport in the Bulgarian capital. State Opera Stara Zagora will organize ground transport from the airport to our accommodation and back for all conductors (2 hours and 20 minutes by car/mini-van).  Please arrive or be at the airport on Sunday, 9 February.
MAESTRO DEJAN SAVIC (1957) was born in Belgrade, Serbia to a family of musicians. He graduated with distinction, with a degree in conducting, from the Academy of Music in Belgrade and received his Master’s degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Republic of Serbia. During the period 1985 – 2000, he was the artistic director of the oldest Serbo-Jewish Choral Society “The Baruh Brothers”, founded in 1879. Between 1993 and 1995, he was the artistic director of the “Pro Musica” Chamber Ensemble. From 1989 – 1993, Dejan Savic was the artistic director and chief conductor of the Nis Symphony Orchestra in the Republic of Serbia, and since 1993, the principal conductor of the Serbian National Opera and Ballet in Belgrade.
Between 2001 and 2004, Mr. Savic was the general manager of the Serbian National Opera and Ballet Company. In 2005, he was named Superintendent of the National Theater Belgrade, becoming the first musician to lead this prestigious national institute of culture in its 140-year history. In 2007, he was named general manager of the opera.
Dejan Savic was appointed principal guest conductor of the ERT Symphony Orchestra and Choir in Athens, Greece, for four seasons and has conducted in numerous prestigious Festivals. He has appeared with prominent orchestras and choirs, as well as with opera and ballet companies in Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Israel, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, USA, Germany, Ireland, Norway, France, Austria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and elsewhere. He has made recordings for Radio and TV in many countries as well as several CDs for the PGP production of RTV Belgrade, Romanian National Radiodifusion, Bulgarian National RTV, Greek National RTV, etc. For his artistic achievements, Maestro Savic has been the recipient of a number of important recognitions and awards. He is fluent in English, French, Italian, German and Russian.
