PREDRAG GOSTA is quickly emerging as one of the most interesting and multi-faceted conductors of his generation. He is the currently the principal guest conductor of the New Europe Symphony Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria; music director of the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre (based in Atlanta, Georgia); and artistic director of New Trinity Baroque, a widely-acclaimed and recorded orchestra in the United States that performs on period instruments. Gosta formerly served as assistant conductor of the National Philharmonic in Washington DC, and was a faculty member at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, and originally a violinist, Predrag Gosta completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in voice, harpsichord and conducting at the Trinity College of Music in London and Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He later undertook advanced studies in conducting in Europe and the Russian Federation with such renowned teachers/conductors as Jorma Panula, Gustav Meier, Colin Metters and Alexander Polyanichko.

Equally fluent with orchestral, choral, operatic and balletic repertoire, Gosta’s engagements as a guest conductor in the Russian Federation have included performances with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra; the St. Petersburg State Capella “Glinka”; the Russian National Orchestra; the Moscow Symphony Orchestra; the Tomsk Philharmonic; the Maykop Philharmonic; the Murmansk Philharmonic; the Kislovodsk Philharmonic; and the Krasnodar Chamber Orchestra. Elsewhere, he has led the Belgrade Philharmonic; the Chihuahua Symphony Orchestra (Mexico); the Welsh Concert Orchestra; the Radom Chamber Orchestra (Poland); and the Rousse Philharmonic and Bourgas State Opera in Bulgaria. In the United States, he has appeared with the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra; the Lexington Opera Theatre in Kentucky; the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorale; and numerous other orchestras, choirs and ensembles. His 2011/12 engagements as a guest conductor include concerts with the world-renowned London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and orchestras in Argentina, Ukraine, Russian Federation, Bulgaria, Serbia, Austria, Germany and Slovakia. Concurrent with this, he has multiple appearances scheduled with the New Europe Symphony Orchestra, the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre, and New Trinity Baroque.

Maestro Gosta’s most significant international acclaim to date comes through his period-instrument ensemble, New Trinity Baroque. With them, he has collaborated with many important artists from the early music scene, including Evelyn Tubb, Marion Verbruggen, Steven Devine, Ingrid Matthews, and the Gramophone-award winner, John Holloway. Since its founding in 1998, the ensemble has toured the USA, England, Finland, Sweden and the Balkans, appearing at Festivals and concert series in New York, Boston, London and beyond, including the Boston Early Music Festival; the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; and the Vammala Early Music Festival in Finland. With New Trinity, Gosta has recorded over a dozen CDs that have received critical praise – among them, the 2002 recording of Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas” (with Evelyn Tubb in the title role) which was hailed by Oxford University Press’ “Early Music” and “Early Music America” magazines as one of the best recordings of this opera ever made. Gosta’s recordings are exclusively distributed by Naxos, and can be found through iTunes and music retailers worldwide.

A regular presenter of master classes and lectures, Predrag Gosta has published articles in leading music journals. He also has a keen interest in contemporary music, and has premiered works by living and 20th century composers (Platz, Božičević, Makris), including works of his own. As president of the Makris Foundation in Washington DC (which promotes music of the Greek-American composer, Andreas Makris), Mr. Gosta oversees a team of editors working on publication of the complete works by this important composer. He is also the editor-in-chief of UrtextEditions.com, a publisher of editions with a special focus on historical accuracy.

Gosta is the recipient of numerous grants, awards and scholarships, including scholarships from the Vandervell Foundation; the Leverhulme Trust in England; the Porter Foundation Grant; and the Regents Opportunity Scholarship from Georgia State University. In 2006, he received a Leadership Award from a US Congressional Committee, and was featured in “Who is Who in America.” He is a member of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars; the Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity; president of the International Early Music Society's Early Music Network; and artistic advisor for the Peter the Great Music Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
