An important requirement for these positions is that a conductor first take part in a mastercourse for conducting competiton produced by BDMI. Only after we know a conductor's capabilities from first-hand observation and experience can we determine what kind of assistant or associate position, if any, we can provide.
ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR POSITIONS FOR NEW PRODUCTIONS WITH OPERA COMPANIES
A very limited number of assistant conductor positions are available each season for new productions in opera theaters in central and eastern Europe. Time commitments range from three to six weeks, during which the assistant would rehearse all elements (orchestra, chorus, cast) of a new production in collaboration with the production's principal conductor and stage director. He or she would then conduct one or two complete performances after the production's opening night. Please note -- these assistant positons are only available to conductors who have taken part in one of our conducting mastercourses or competitions.
